Literature Text

As the the grandfather clock down the hall
Strikes the dark, quiet, midnight hour,
Our footsteps pad quietly to your room.
My hand in yours, I twirl you gracefully,
Our feet dancing over the soft carpet.
My cheek to yours, we dance smiling,
Lit by soft light of a pink lampshade.
On the lavender wall our shadows collide,
Moving together with nothing to lose.
The pajamas you wear, soft under hands,
Shows me a you who's far truer than true.
In this childhood place of yours,
With middle school pictures,
And faded memories,
You've stolen my poetic heart.
The Paramore song, playing softly in the dark,
Drifts beautifully around us,
As we kiss on the desk by the window.
Our eyes closed reflect in the mirror,
The dresses on the floor sparkle,
And the pillows mask our giddy smiles.
My world spins as you curl beside me;
My heart stops as you breathe my name.
I hold you close as sleep takes hold,
Cradling the angel you are,
Whispering "Goodnight" to your fears,
"Sweet dreams" as we drift away.
This has never happened to me. I hope it does someday. At 1:32 in the morning, I couldn't ask for any better wish right now.
